2. Write the Introduction last: TRICK #3

Make sure to leave room by starting on the third page of the booklet.

The reason to write the introduction last is that, until you have completed your essay, you really don't know what you are actually going to say. Your outline will give you a good idea, but many times, when writing, we think of ideas or examples to add or important points to consider that we did not initially note.

Leaving room so that you can write your introduction last allows you to craft an introduction based on what you have already written, rather than what you think you will write.

Trick #4: leave room for editing by SKIPPING LINES!

The reason to skip lines is so that you have room to make corrections to spelling, sentence structure, etc. when editing and proofreading. These is nothing worse than a sloppy paper, with squiggles, lines and inserts all over the place. When you skip lines, you have an entire new line on which to re-write any words, sentences or even paragraphs that you may find need adjustment.

Neatness counts for something! Clarity in process can often be an indication of clarity in thought. If your essay is easy to read, then it will be easier to understand, as well.

THE SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT THING TO REMEMBER IS TO SKIP LINES WHEN YOU WRITE YOUR ESSAY!

Unless you skip lines when you draft, you will not have space in your booklet to edit/proofread your essay.

THINK ABOUT IT! IF YOU SKIP LINES, YOU COULD ACTUALLY RE-WRITE THE ENTIRE ESSAY WHEN YOU EDIT BECAUSE YOU HAVE THE SPACE TO DO SO!
